Nine Wishes for 2k9
As the year begins, we have prayers and hope on our lips, things that we so dearly want to come true. Here are nine wishes we wish for 2K9 and we hope we aren’t asking for too much!!!

1) Net speeds- With the promise of increased bandwidth, we had hoped for much more, but the unsatisfied hope still lingers…sigh!! The same can be said for the residents of Sapphire back wing who have to endure the agonizingly slow speeds of a wi-fi connection.
2) Extension of T&P in Kolkata - The economic recession having enveloped us; this year's placement preparations need to be made on a war footing and an extension centre at Kolkata would certainly go a long way in assuring jobs for one and all.
3) Microsoft- Each year, before the placements start, there's a buzz that Microsoft might finally grace our campus with its presence. We definitely hope it comes true this year. We also hope that the bailout packages and Obama effect, reverses recession so that placements remain a tension-free episode.
4) Single Rooms- Let’s hope against hope that some wings of Amber Hostel get completed before July and final years may ultimately get the chance to enjoy the taste of solitude offered by single rooms.
5) Rodent Control- A nuisance, especially for those living in the ground floor. We fervently wish that apart from the insect control drive that is currently undertaken, there starts a rodent control drive too.
6) Road Repairs- ISMU would soon be playing host to the National Games. So let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that the games bring some respite to the potholed stretch between Emerald and Sapphire.
7) IIT or ISM- Every time an official visits Delhi, rumor mills start working overtime. We wish to see the matter settled once and for all in 2K9.
8) No trespassing please - Security has always been an issue; with many things disappearing from rooms and reappearing at odd places, we hope that the campus from this year becomes a secure haven for us and a mysterious ground for outsiders.
9) Health and Sanitation: With the disease season on its way, precautions and guidelines from the Health Centre and keeping the furry inmates outside the premises will go a long way in curbing this menace.
