The recent attacks on mumbai hotels have had the effect of uniting the people and the public is now registering its anger towards the political class and their incompetence in all possible ways. I read this in a blog which posts links to download movies. And feel that it should truly be spread through as many mediums as possible. Well, I also didn't know about such a provision before. Its time that the public rises to ask what it truly deserves. we must stand for our rights.
Here is the matter I foundDid you know that there is a system in our Constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49 O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone! Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called Section"49 O". Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received 49 "O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way of our whole political system... It is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public.... Please spread this news to as many as you know...Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance. So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49 O) and pass this info on... "Please forward this message to as many as possible, so that we, the people of India, can really use this power to save our nation".

BUT there is a flaw... our system isn't the same as that of U.S.. over dere u directly vote for a president.. but the problem in india is you don kno which party sides with whom.. so actually u don kno who you are votin for.. nd a person is dere of say a party X who has really worked hard in his constituency, but his party's central people( the so called leaders!! ) arent worth fer bein at the nation,s helm.. so wat can you do... you cant kick him out as he has done good work.. neither can you vote for his party!!! NOW WAT???? :)

@prahalad
Well, most of the times the candidates have done nothing or are criminals.....(take the example of Pappu Yadav) and if you are not sure if any of them would do anything,you can surely exercise this. Consider a constituency from where a minister is standing. If he hasn't done much on the national front or for the constituency and the story remains same for other contestants, this would be a wise option. And even if he has done something for his constituency and his party hasn't done much for the country, then during national elections there should be no hesitation to use section 49 O, since at that time we are voting for the betterment of our country.
Its time we stop thinking about just ourself. The current politician lot has failed us in many ways. Each one of us should starting taking such small steps, then only can there be a greater change. The Rizwanur Rehman case in Kolkata is the perfect example of such an act, where pure public sympathy and anger led to peaceful protests and candlelight marches (without getting politicised) and forced the govt. to take action.
Gen X , Stop waiting for others to bring change. Make your own contribution and see how it would inspire others and turn this country around.
